Event description:
IE Campus89 and Fashion Club want to join forces to highlight IE student’s creativity and strive for a more sustainable and equal world. Today we are launching a fashion design competition: an opportunity for creative minds to design sustainable fashion pieces, and present in front a selected panel of judges; including influential designers, experts in slow fashion which will be soon announced. The teams will not only get feedback from the experts but will also be awarded a prize.
We will also count on the participation of prominent guest speakers in the field, who will be talking about their experiences in the slow fashion industry and the importance of sustainability.
After the challenge, we will have a student-led fashion start-ups fair, where attendees will be able to see and buy from IE talented designers.
We want to create a conscious fashion show that consists of two parts: the presentation of a sustainable fashion competition and a showcase of all the IEU fashion-related startups, with the purpose of raising awareness of the child labor, the climate risk that we put the next generations on and discuss the alternatives for a better future in the fashion industry. This would also be a fundraising event for UNICEF initiatives for a better future of the next generations.
First, we want to launch a sustainable fashion competition for IE University students, where they can design and show the MVP of their ideas and have feedback from professionals of the fashion industry. They will have three weeks to complete the designs and bring their MVPs for the fashion show. We also want to give a space for all the fashion startups to showcase their products for the IE community. They would have a space in the runway as well as a small fair where they can sell or set up orders.
This is going to be a full day experience for the students, as we are also having conferences with sustainable fashion entrepreneurs and an specialist on child labor in fast fashion. The purpose is for the students to become aware of the situation, have tools and knowledge on how to act towards change and contribute to the social and sustainable mindset IE encourages.
